Urology Residency
Thank you for your interest in the UMMC urology residency program. It is an ACGME-accredited five-year program in Urology. Two residents are selected each year. The appointments for the urology residency are finalized with the Society of Academic Urologists Matching Program. Click here for general information and application information regarding our program.
We are devoted to resident teaching and scholarly activity. In addition to informal instruction on rounds and direction in the conduct of research projects, we have weekly conferences, monthly journal club and periodic visiting professorships. The urology residency rotation schedule is structured to provide a one-on-one mentorship for residents with urology faculty. This will increase the support of each resident and faculty involvement in patient care and resident learning/teaching experiences. This will lead to increased mentorship and real-time feedback for each urology resident.
Our program provides training in minimally invasive surgery, including the da Vinci robotic system, and a continued focus on open urologic procedures.
UMMC is the only academic medical center in the state and, thus, attracts a large patient volume with a variety of pathology. The training program at UMMC is committed to full preparation of its current residents and recent graduates for the ever-changing practice of urology and provides a sound base for fellowship training or an academic career.
Lastly, our greatest strength is our faculty's commitment to teaching. Feel free to contact us if you have questions.
